TINA DAVITT
Activities Director
Sponsors: Head/Penn Racquet Sports |
 |
Tina discovered racquetball 5 years ago when she
decided out of the blue to take lessons and has been addicted ever
since. Her goal is to play as long as possible, and as often as
possible without destroying her body in the process. Tina is currently a
member of Hillsborough Pool, Racquet and Fitness. As Activities
Director, she can be found by the hospitality table, locating missing
players, harassing referees, playing a match or interviewing players for
the NJAR website. She doesn't like to admit it, but she's the one that
makes the weak coffee at the tournaments. |

RICK FOLGER
Director of Junior Programming
Sponsors: Ektelon Racquetball |
 |
Rick began his exercise career by running which culminated in over ten
half marathons and two sub four hour marathons. He then moved on to a
boxing regime which lasted about three years and one headache too many.
Rick has been playing racquetball since 1975, and is a veteran of many
club and amateur tournaments, and two strong national tournament
showings. He began teaching in 2001, and it has become the joy of his
life to watch young people learning the game he loves so much. “It
always delights me to watch children who for the first five weeks cannot
hit the ball at all, come in on the sixth week (tournament week) and all
of sudden they can do it,” quotes Rick. He holds four ten week courses a
year, for children seven to twelve, with a student base of more than 75
kids. He believes that playing is the most important part of teaching
the kids. So, he gives the kids fifteen to twenty minutes of instruction
and allows the kids to finish by playing. He has a round robin for the
kids each Saturday between the hours of twelve to three at the Club at
Woodbridge. This class is open to all students or any child may
participate at a ten dollar fee. He is currently working on a
racquetball after school program. He believes the most important thing a
child learns while learning to play racquetball is self-confidence. He
considers himself truly lucky to be a position to watch children grow.

FELIX RUIZ
NJAR Board Member
Sponsors: Ektelon Racquetball |
 |
Felix has been
involved in racquetball most of his life but it was when he met Aimee,
his wife that racquetball became part of his life. Racquetball
has taken him to Ireland, Dominican Republic and a lot of states in the
US. His wife calls him the Mayor of Racquetball because he know everyone
or as he would like to think everyone knows him that plays the game. His
greatest moment in racquetball was when Aimee made the U.S. National Team
in 2005. It was one of the happiest moments of his life. Remember what
Felix always says, “It doesn’t matter if you win or lose its how you
look that matters”. |
